after the econs tutorial and lecture, i think i have finally realised what econs is all about. It's simply a biology-like subject where you have to mug and mug and mug and MUG for endless hours. except for ONE difference - in biology, as long as you throw down all your points in whatsoever order, the teacher will retrieve it and give you the mark (and even if she doesn't see it, you still can ask for the mark), but in econs.... HUMPH. too bad for you if you didn't read the question and understand it the same way as the teachers, you just get an U.

Seriously, if you look at IH (integrated humanities) in secondary school, it's something like econs (you need the essay skills for IH for do econs) but then for IH all you need to know is how to fake statistics and yet escape the teacher's notice (okay fine you will need to have some general knowledge about the topic too, but that's about it, seriously.)

I have no idea why (maybe i'm abnormal) but i find econs concepts REALLY hard to understand. i really wonder why my seniors tell me 'oh econs is actually just common sense you know... understanding is really easy, it's just the applying part which is harder'.... and with Mrs Tan saying 'if you can get an A for your block test, i'll treat you all to starbucks (or whatever that coffee-and-donut place is)' and true statistics of part year block tests for econs (i.e. a 70% fail rate) i think i am seriously going to drown in this sea of murky waters. SOON. and YES zhou jing, i LOVE physics in comparison to econs now. at least you don't have to memorize anything...........

okay maybe i shouldn't sound so pessimistic, but i just realised that you tend to show your feelings more when you're not feeling well...

anyway, just to give an update on GEMS, i have already contacted the home econs teacher from Nanyang, but she hasn't given me a reply yet (as she needs to check her schedule and with the admin people first)... yup but she says that if it is possible we only need to pay for the costs of the materials used (i.e. no tuition fees!) so keep our fingers crossed for the result! :)
